The RYA shore-based training course in Malta was a fantastic week! We all learned a lot.
Leon displayed many of his multiple skills.
Firstly, Leon is a great teacher with profound knowledge about the rules and what they mean in practice. He brought the main points across in a relaxed and balanced, yet challenging way. In the weeks before the course he sent a couple of emails reiterating the importance of coming prepared, having studied some of the suggested literature.
During the course he gave us many exercises to practice and finally we worked hard to pass the tests.
Secondly, Leon is a real carer, he is not only teaching content but made sure that the week was overall a great experience. He booked restaurants and taxis, ordered coffee, etc.
Thirdly, he is the best inspirer on sailing I have ever met so far. You could virtually feel the daily increasing desire by all participants to sail more, be it on longer passages or spending more time on the water.
What evenly contributed to the success of this week were without any doubts the participants. The group turned out to consist of very nice people with whom it was a real pleasure to learn, study and spent time together.
