 "À l‘aise Breizh …

… what a great voyage across the Bay of Biskay it has been. A thoroughly enjoyable first trip on Regina Laska.

But let me start from the beginning: we started from La Coruña on the day of the big black-out across the Spanish peninsula. Not something you hope for but you have to live with for that moment.

And the moment already started shaping 4 people into what was a well organized crew about 2 weeks later - and even better: a very enjoyable company with a great match of skills and spirit.

After a first stop-over in the picturesque bay of Cedeira we left the next morning to cross Le Golf de Cascogne as the Biscay is known in France and headed towards the coast of Brittany.

Next stop Belle Île - and it is what the name suggests: a cozy small island. The fun part was to find ourselves fender rubbing with dozens of other boats in a tight canal behind a lock.

Highlight of the day: the first serving of fresh oysters on deck (thank your Martin for that).

Next stop: into the Golf du Morbihan. A small bay with dozens of small islands and impressive tidal currents. We sailed then on to visit Concarneau - a must if one likes medieval villages.

Lesconil was the culinary highlight. A small, very small port but a great restaurant right at the water front.

Another navigational highlight was the approach to the remote Île d‘Ouessant which requires careful tidal planning - even when using the dinghy :-)

Final stop Brest: there was only one common thought on our minds: how can it already by over?

So what is my take-away? More of charts, tides, tricky coastal passages? Yes but more so it was aboutlearning about what Leon calls the Regina Family approach and making sailing friends. My thanks go out to my fellow sailors Rudolf and Martin. I‘ll sail with them again in a heartbeat.

And a big thank you to Leon who skippers Regina Laska with a lot of enthusiasm and calm competence. The boat is a reliable sailing companion in all conditions.

… à l‘aise Breizh - take it easy in Brittany
