One word that applies to everything Leon does is ‘Quality’

Whether it’s the templates he designed, the hotel where the theory courses are held, the restaurants he recommends, the condition in which Regina Laska is maintained, the meals he is able to provide at sea and, perhaps most important of all, his training courses.

Leon has a wonderful ability to explain complex matters in a way that makes them easier to understand. With seemingly endless patience he will explain a topic in several different ways if necessary, until it is understood. No one is left behind.

As the time in the classroom progresses and people get to know each other better, a community environment develops and having dinner together in some of the best restaurants in Malta helps this to mature. Most of the conversations are about boats and past or planned sailing adventures. Some lasting friendships are formed and the Regina Sailing Family gains new members.

Leon’s knowledge of everything to do with boats and sailing is encyclopedic and what he doesn’t know probably isn’t worth knowing. He is passionate about these subjects. His enthusiasm is infectious and most people leave with a determination to learn more and sail more, buy a new boat, sail somewhere different, cross an ocean - or maybe all of these.
