Leg 4/2023

6 – 13 June:  La Coruna – Portosin: A relaxed holiday cruise!

This is one of these “let’s just enjoy life and go cruising” legs. No teaching, no upwind sailing, now big distances to make, just plain holiday cruising.

I have sailed many times in this area and never stop finding new great places to eat out or to anchor. One can spend months in the Rías and I have done so every year during the last couple of years.

Following the Portuguese Trades, passing the Costa de la Morte (“Death Coast”), continuing rounding Cape Finisterre (“The end of the known world” for the Romans) and some offshore sailing with Atlantic feeling will, nevertheless, spice the exploring of the protected Rías (deep cutting bays of Galicia) with a slight hint of adventure.

It will be the perfect mix for a relaxed holiday with enough thrill to call it a special memory!

It is a relaxing leg where we also can visit the islands consisting of the natural reserve of Galicia. Regina Laska has a permit to enter and anchor and visit the islands since safety and competence of the skipper fulfils the necessary requirements.

Food always plays a major roll on Regina Laska, be it when eating out, in the salon under deck or when turning on the BBQ on aft deck.

Regina Laska anchored off Isla Cíes, which is a natural reserve.

Isla Cíes reminds me of the Caribbean. You need a special permit to anchor here, which I have.

The Symbol for the pilgrimage, The Shell of Saint James, served as Scallops in one of the many great seafood restaurants in Galicia.

Price: EUR 2,300 per person including all food consumed onboard, harbour fees, diesel etc

Looking out from the empty beach of Portosin. Not many tourists in Galicia.

Some brave children going into the fresh water.

Fantastic scenery of Illa Ons, one of the National Parks we can visit.

Yoga on Illa Ons.

Visiting Combarro in Ría de Pontevedra.
