Leg 3/2025

12 May – 22 May    Tidal Training in Bretagne: Brest/France along the north coast of Bretagne via the Channel Islands to Granville/France.

.

Challenge yourself with one of the highest tidal ranges in the world (up to 12m) and currents that can outperform the yacht.

Find your way through drying rivers sailing up to fantastic villages and towns with outstanding restaurants! If weather and time allows, we sail via the Channel Islands to experience some English atmosphere with French touch.

You will get excellent practical tidal sail training, e.g. after having taken part in the RYA Yachtmaster Theory Course. But it’s more than tidal sail training: it’s a gourmet-leg just as well! Sailing in Bretagne, you just can’t avoid mixing one of the most challenging sailing areas in Europe with the reward of the best authentic restaurants of Brittany!

Some of the books and charts we use to find the best way to the best restaurants!

Many of the restaurants, I have actually been to already when passing this thrilling coast in previous years. Others, I can only look forward to experience with my new guests for this leg!

Granville. You really have to do your calculations right, since the approach is falling dry behind the sill.

Anchored under the castle in one of the estuaries cutting deep into the country.

We will use the secret anchorages of Brittany, using the IMRAY book with the same title and have ample time for this coast alone. Since the coast can be rough, spending time in the villages or in restaurants is the second aim of this leg, continuing only in good weather.

Granville: Sometimes it’s a steep upward slope to get ashore. Grocery shopping needs to be done according to the tides!

Cidre is the typical drink in a Creperie in Bretagne.

Not all seafood you can find in France should be eaten…
