Leg 3/2026

28 April – 5 May    Tidal Training in Bretagne: Brest/France along the south coast of Bretagne.

.

Challenge yourself with one of the highest tidal ranges in the world and currents that can outperform the yacht.

We will sail past the “Cape Horn of Europe” according to author Wilfried Krusekopf, see article in YACHT

Warning sign in Bretagne for pedestrians. Better to be at sea during these times!

You will get excellent practical tidal sail training, e.g. after having taken part in the RYA Yachtmaster Theory Course. But it’s more than tidal sail training: it’s a gourmet-leg just as well! Sailing in Bretagne, you just can’t avoid mixing one of the most challenging sailing areas in Europe with the reward of the best authentic restaurants of Brittany!

Some of the books and charts we use to find the best way to the best restaurants!

Many of the restaurants, I have actually been to already when passing this thrilling coast in previous years. Others, I can only look forward to experience with my new guests for this leg!

This is where Commissaire Dupin is solving a murder case in the German TV-series in Concarneau.

We will use the secret anchorages of Brittany, using the IMRAY book with the same title and have ample time for this coast alone. Since the coast can be rough, spending time in the villages or in restaurants is the second aim of this leg, continuing only in good weather.

Sometimes it’s a long way down to the dinghy after a short walk ashore. Important to have a long enough painter!
